Age Gives No Immunity to Violence
Friday 29 February 2008
This one-day forum brings together a range of experts who will discuss the abuse of older people, particularly with regard to older women. It will be an opportunity to hear from the Office for Ageing with regard to NSW initiatives for responding to abuse of older people and will be an invaluable day for people working with older women and men. Registration must be made by Friday 15 February.

Special Events

International Women's Day
Saturday, 8 March 2008
The first IWD was inspired by a strike of women garment workers in New York in 1908, when socialist women in the United States initiated the first Women's Day, organising large demonstrations calling for the vote and the political and economic rights of women. IWD has always been a time to celebrate and remember the origin and significance of this politically important day to women everywhere and we would like all women's groups in Sydney to make IWD 2008 a special event by having our biggest march ever and by joining in the celebration afterwards. This year we will also be celebrating the first time in our nation's history that we've had a female Deputy Prime Minister, Julia Gillard, who is also the Federal Minister for Education, Employment and Workplace Relations. There will be lots of activities including a documentary film, banner project, a memory tent, stalls and entertainment. Let's show the world that women know how to party, and our lives and achievements are worthy of International Celebration! Please use the following Expression of Interest Form to indicate how you would like to get involved …
